81cJfGC9MiL._SL1500_Over the last few months I’ve been reading an incredible book, The Iodine Crisis, by Lynne Farrow which explains the relationship between hypothyroidism, breast cancer, bromine toxicity and iodine deficiency. This book is incredible. A must read!!

I plan to write a lot about this book in the coming months but wanted to quickly point out a great resource… Lynne Farrow has compiled a list of Iodine Literate Practitioners who are educated in Iodine as a possible treatment for hypothyroidism and breast cancer.

The most common question people ask me is how to find a “Good Doctor”! Hopefully this list will open up more avenues to treatment. xo!

hi Lizzy, I bought some Lugol's solution from you on Amazon a while back. I started out with only 1 drop per day for a week or so. Then I went to 2 drops per day for about another week. Now I am having a really bad metallic taste in my mouth. I was wondering if you have experienced this or if anyone else has? I'm finding conflicting information about it online. Some say it's too much Iodine. Others say it Bromide toxicity. I'm not sure if I should continue taking it or what? Do you or anyone else that has been taking Lugol's for a while have any input? Thanks!!!

Hi JD, when I am looking up symptoms, I often refer to Curezone…as they have a very deep discussion history around Iodine Supplementation. They even have their forum dedicated to it! A quick search revealed this information…http://curezone.com/forums//am.asp?i=1432908Please know I cannot give medical advice. Please consult an Iodine Literate Practitioner, or a doctor you trust. Warmly!Lizzy!

What is the benefit of using iodine?

According to healthyonline.com, the thyroid (located at the frontal base of the neck) is the key gland that furnishes energy to every cell in the body. Its function is dependent on a balance of nutrients and trace minerals. These include zinc, copper, manganese and especially iodine.

Iodine is an essential nutrient needed for the production of the body's thyroid hormones and is therefore required for normal thyroid function. Thyroid hormones are responsible for our basal metabolic rate (BMR), which reflects the body's use of energy. In addition, they are beneficial for:

    • Normal growth and development
    • Protein synthesis
    • Cholesterol synthesis
    • Carbohydrate absorption
    • Energy metabolism
    • Nerve and bone formation
    • Reproduction
    • The condition of the skin, hair, nails and teeth
    • Speech and mental state
    • Cold hands and feet
