Hi my friends!

I thought today would be a good time for some inspiration. It’s been six years since I started the journey to solve my hypothyroid condition. If you are new to my story, this meant I couldn’t exercise, I had no energy, I would sleep 10 hours and wake up tired, I was 35 lbs overweight and no diet helped (read the whole story). So, being able to post this update is really exciting, and I hope it inspires you!

Nine months ago I started doing CrossFit, which is darn near the hardest workout I’ve ever done in my life. And something I never could have done six years ago. Since starting CrossFit, I’ve been sore every day for nine months, but in a really good way. The way my body should feel after exercise, not in the hypothyroid-way (where exercise made me want to cry). I never knew exercise could feel awesome until I was treated properly.

So what does it look like to get proper treatment? You need photos! Here are the latest pics of yours truly. At 40 years old, with hypothyroidism and recovering from adrenal fatigue, I never thought this kind of workout would be possible. But the proof is here. And yay!! Seeing this reminds me that life can be better. So keep at everyone. Anything is possible if you put your heart and mind to it.

xxxxxoooo

Lizzy

This post is very inspiring. I am way younger than you, not even 20 and am starting the journey of recovering from hypothyroidism. My main side affect is face puffiness which is very upsetting for someone my age. If you have any advice for a beginner, I have been taking the compound Triiodo-L-Thyronine for about six months and I am not receiving very good results. Have you had any comments or reviews for this medication?

You make me dizzy Miss Lizzy! Well, actually that's probably my adrenal fatigue causing the dizziness but I really appreciate all the info you've put together here. Your story and the pictures here are inspiring. I'm over 7 months into my battle with adrenal fatigue and it seems like every other month brings a new stage with new variations on the symptoms. It's definitely frustrating to experience and challenging to explain to people, but it's so nice to be able to read how you've been able to deal with and seemingly conquer your own similar health issues. I've picked up some great tips here that have helped so thank you. After 7 months of exhaustion, hypoglycemia, unhelpful MDs, losing a few jobs and constantly feeling like I'm on some kind of amusement park ride that I can't get off of, I'm doing a saliva test next week and will hopefully at least get some tangible confirmation of my condition. I can't wait! 🙂

Hi Brent, I'm so glad my site helped you. It sounds like you are close to solving things and getting your life on track. The saliva test will be very informative. xxxxoooo! Lizzy

I have been having symptoms for 15 years which was never diagnosed as hyprothyroidism until I was 30 years old. The severe symptoms finally caught their attention of a 30 pounds weight gain in 2 months and I lost most of my hair. Prior to this I was a size 5 and had always been a active person. I was suddenly overweight, had acne, could not think straight, and was sleeping 12 hours a day. I do not remember the other severe symptoms (no joke) when I was undiagnosed for so long. I took a year of a specific diet, hormone therapy, and some out of the box thinking to resolve the symptoms. I am very healthy now and with some fluxations in my medication in which I have found that compound prescriptions are the only effective treatment for me. I found your story to be inspirational and it gives me hope that there is a life through the challenges this condition has imposed on my life. I know my present healthy status is a gift and at any time I could go back to my old self. I am grateful for today and finding the humor in the situation I might not remember how it feels to be healthy to miss it. LOL

What is the benefit of using iodine?

According to healthyonline.com, the thyroid (located at the frontal base of the neck) is the key gland that furnishes energy to every cell in the body. Its function is dependent on a balance of nutrients and trace minerals. These include zinc, copper, manganese and especially iodine.

Iodine is an essential nutrient needed for the production of the body's thyroid hormones and is therefore required for normal thyroid function. Thyroid hormones are responsible for our basal metabolic rate (BMR), which reflects the body's use of energy. In addition, they are beneficial for:

    • Normal growth and development
    • Protein synthesis
    • Cholesterol synthesis
    • Carbohydrate absorption
    • Energy metabolism
    • Nerve and bone formation
    • Reproduction
    • The condition of the skin, hair, nails and teeth
    • Speech and mental state
    • Cold hands and feet
