Yesterday, I went to good ol Walmart and got some coconut oil..because I didn't really know what the difference in organic and the Louana brand and since I'm from a small town where there aren't many options for "exotic" ingredients..I got the Louana 100% coconut oil. I applied it to my unbearably brittle and disintegrating hair and slept that way, washing it in the morning. My hair is noticeably softer..not greasy and gooey like when you overdose it with too much stuff in a desperate attempt to infuse moisture, but most of it is soft to the touch and bends naturally, instead of having that stiff, straw, crunchy feel. I have some spots that are simply beyond help and need to be cut off, but I am hopeful that with continued use of coconut oil, I can salvage the newer hair that does manage to grow and stay attatched to my head. Thanks for the info about coconut oil..I never would have thought it would be ok to use on my hair. Sure beats the 7 different tubes of high end repair balms and creams I've been using with not much success.

Zella Brown comments on The Annual Springtime Blues; Time to Boost Thyroid Medicine

Lizzy, I have the same problem like you have. I have been testing my levels about every other month. I feel like something is off, but all the levels are in normal range. I have been hard core dieting, eating right and exercising and have stayed at a consistent weight. Not even losing a pound. I still have a tendency to drag around with little energy. My question to you is if I start taking desiccated thyroid will the symptoms that are still there go away? I am tired of being tired and all the extra weight is weighing me down. I have recently had a bad bout of acne on my face, back and chest. I have been reading on this but needed the inside scoop. Thank you for your time and help!

brater comments on Getting to Yes, with Your Doctor

I have been all through the STTM website and books...I live in North Florida and the Doc list from STOP THE THYROID MADNESS only offer's doctors who do not accept any insurance (like the young woman from another comment I read here). I have been to alomost a dozen doctors, 3 Endo's and they all force the Synthroid poison and ABSOLUTELY will not let me try any Natural Thyroid meds. They are hateful, rude, arrogant doc's in this state whom truley DO NOT CARE about the intense suffering of Hypothyroid patients.I feel so defeted now....I am sick of suffering...I am now considering just throwing the Synthroid away and using only Nutri-Meds Porcine thyroid supplement since Synthroid has not eased ANY of my symptom's and I have been put on every dose from 25 MCG to 200 MCG every dose in between....no help at all. They finally added 12.5 T-3 per day and after 5 months of T-3 and Synthroid, still NO RELIEF....I have read so much from hypo people saying they finally have some relief on Natural Thyroid drugs after wasting years of their life on Synthroid, but these docs here will NOT let me have the option. If ayone out there has some REAL advice, please tell me what else I can do. And I have asked the pharmacies (compounding too) and no one will tell me where I can find A doc that won't PUSH synthroid on me. Please, if anyone around Tallahassee Fl knows of a doctor who take insurance AND will prescribe Natural Thyroid and and adrenal issues...PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Lizzy comments on Six Years Later: Here's What Good Thyroid Treatment Looks Like

Hi Brent, I'm so glad my site helped you. Well, actually that's probably my adrenal fatigue causing the dizziness but I really appreciate all the info you've put together here. Your story and the pictures here are inspiring. I'm over 7 months into my battle with adrenal fatigue and it seems like every other month brings a new stage with new variations on the symptoms. It's definitely frustrating to experience and challenging to explain to people, but it's so nice to be able to read how you've been able to deal with and seemingly conquer your own similar health issues. I've picked up some great tips here that have helped so thank you.

After 7 months of exhaustion, hypoglycemia, unhelpful MDs, losing a few jobs and constantly feeling like I'm on some kind of amusement park ride that I can't get off of, I'm doing a saliva test next week and will hopefully at least get some tangible confirmation of my condition. I can't wait! :)
