My Story About Living Hypothyroid with Adrenal Fatigue

This is not an ad, this is really me.

For over 25 years I lived with a commonly undiagnosed condition called Hypothyroidism.

This is my story about how I found treatment, lost over 30lbs (not through a fad diet or some other gimmick), got my energy back so I could exercise, finally was able to sleep well at night, and dozens of other unexplained health issues...Read more

Getting to Yes, with Your Doctor

Whether you are just getting diagnosed as Hypothyroid and want to try a natural desiccated thyroid medicine like Naturthroid, or you've been diagnosed and want to switch from a T4-Only medicine like Synthroid or Levoxyl there are ways to talk with your doctor.  Start with then end in mind; the goal is getting to "Yes".

I have found the easiest way in getting to yes is to approach everything like an experiment. This takes the pressure off everyone, and gives me a chance to learn with the guidance of my doctor. Here is what say:

Hi Doc, Let's try this experiment and see what happens! If we feel it doesn't work I am totally open to trying something else.

Finding the right treatment has been a journey for me.  I needed to be able to test and try new things.  So this approach created an open dialogue with my doctor which allowed us both to learn. Success!

Please note: any experiment is at my or your own risk. So be careful, educated and ultimately follow the advice of a doctor you trust.

I have been all through the STTM website and books...I live in North Florida and the Doc list from STOP THE THYROID MADNESS only offer's doctors who do not accept any insurance (like the young woman from another comment I read here). I have been to alomost a dozen doctors, 3 Endo's and they all force the Synthroid poison and ABSOLUTELY will not let me try any Natural Thyroid meds. They are hateful, rude, arrogant doc's in this state whom truley DO NOT CARE about the intense suffering of Hypothyroid patients.I feel so defeted now....I am sick of suffering...I am now considering just throwing the Synthroid away and using only Nutri-Meds Porcine thyroid supplement since Synthroid has not eased ANY of my symptom's and I have been put on every dose from 25 MCG to 200 MCG every dose in between....no help at all. They finally added 12.5 T-3 per day and after 5 months of T-3 and Synthroid, still NO RELIEF....I have read so much from hypo people saying they finally have some relief on Natural Thyroid drugs after wasting years of their life on Synthroid, but these docs here will NOT let me have the option. If ayone out there has some REAL advice, please tell me what else I can do. And I have asked the pharmacies (compounding too) and no one will tell me where I can find A doc that won't PUSH synthroid on me. Please, if anyone around Tallahassee Fl knows of a doctor who take insurance AND will prescribe Natural Thyroid and and adrenal issues...PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
