My Story About Living Hypothyroid with Adrenal Fatigue

This is not an ad, this is really me.

This is my story about how I found treatment, lost over 30lbs (not through a fad diet or some other gimmick), got my energy back so I could exercise, finally was able to sleep well at night, and dozens of other unexplained health issues...Read more

If Only Nike Made a Platform Heel

Now that I have enough energy and endurance to stay on my feet all day, I love wearing heels  (see my story) and the higher the better. An interesting dilemma in the new world of dating is that sooner or later, most men want to go on a sporty date; like going for a hike, a trip to the driving range or playing pool. I have plenty of heels for going to dinner or having a drink. But really nothing appropriate for a sporty date! And I do like a good sporty date, but what to do? How to be sporty, sexy and fashionable?

Until Nike invents the perfect Platform Heel, I like to see my date's expression when I show up for mountain hike wearing 4 inch heels.  He looks at me, assesses the heels, wonders if I really plan to hike in heels? A flicker of concern passes over his face. He quietly laughs to himself. I quietly laugh to myself. Then pull out the appropriate, albeit flat, hiking boot. I can see my date sigh with relief.  And yes (absolutely!) after the hike I change out of the dreadful boots and back into heels. Deep down, I suspect my date is thankful for it.

On a side note, yes I know, you might be wondering how anyone really wears heels all day! And its true, some are terribly painful. But with a few key tips you can wear heels with pleasure:

  • The arch has to support in just the right place (don't settle for less on this point!). The "right place" is only what feels good to you, and is different for everyone. But the arch should feel supported.
  • Well placed felt inserts work miracles; under the ball of the foot, arch or behind the heel keep the foot nicely in place.
  • Platforms have built in padding so they absorb more shock (and give a little extra height, which most of us want anyway).

Nike does make heels! Look up Cole Haan with Nike Air... they are not cheap but if you can get them on sale then you are in good shape. Plus you will wear them for years.
